Feelin’ Lucky?
What’s the energy of luck? How does it show up in your life?
Some strokes of “luck” are small. You run into an old friend, who reminds you of another friend who you call and puts you in touch with someone hiring in your field. You read a poem that happened to be sitting on someone’s desk, and it changes your perspective forever. Only years later can you see how fundamentally that moment may have changed your life – is that luck?
Some strokes of luck are big and you know at the time they will change your life. You’re in the right place at the right time. You win the lottery. You meet your significant other in a crowded room at a more crowded party that you weren’t planning on attending anyways.
What we don’t know in the moment is HOW those things will change our lives. Lottery winners are seemingly no happier than before. Paraplegics can be no less happy.
We can lean on wanting or needing events and circumstances to “change our luck”, or to shift the energy of our lives… but is a change of “luck” what we really need?
There is a Buddhist story about a poor farmer whose one horse ran away. All his neighbors came to him in sympathy, saying “What bad luck!”
“Maybe,” he responded.
The next day the horse returned with several other wild horses. “What great luck!” his neighbors exclaimed.
“Maybe,” he responded.
A few days later the farmer’s son was trying to tame one of the wild horses when he was thrown off and broke his leg. “What terrible luck!” his neighbors said.
“Maybe,” he responded.
A week later the army came through the village to draft all the young men but seeing the broken leg of the farmer’s son, they left him in peace. “What wonderful luck!” the neighbors said.
“Maybe,” the farmer responded. And so it goes.
There’s something I’ve been reading and noticing in clients whose lives seem to be “falling apart.” Maybe they’ve lost their jobs, maybe they’ve gotten a divorce or broken up with a long time partner. They seem happier. Relieved, almost. Not everyone, but enough to notice a trend. In most cases, its the fear of losing a job or ending a marriage that is worse than the outcome of either of those events themselves. So what are you really afraid of?
From where I’m working as a psychic reader and healer, luck is just an energy. And you can shift your perception, or the reality, of luck in your space by changing the energy.
Shift the energy in your life. Change your own luck. How’s this year going so far? Are you feeling lucky?
