“Close both eyes
to see with the other eye.” – Rumi
Clairvoyance, the art of clear seeing, allows one to look beyond the mental image pictures that inform and create one’s reality to the truth behind the layers; the essential psychic energy that is gently guiding all things in the physical world.
There is nothing magical about Clairvoyance; you don’t need a certificate or even training to do it. In fact, your inherent clairvoyance is always on, perhaps unconsciously, and if you want to turn up your awareness, all you need is a desire to “see”, a healthy dose of non-judgement or neutrality, and a lot of courage. A sense of humor helps too.
The real magic of being clairvoyant comes from allowing yourself to be seen. Once you begin to see things as they really are, in their essential truth, you cannot help but begin to grow and change. Old patterns and habits will begin to ripen and become ready to be plucked, freeing up space and energy for the new things you wish to experience. Defenses and lies that have alienated you from the world around you – and from yourself – will begin to simply fall away (some with a wimper, some with a snarl). Once you begin to see truth and be seen, you cannot help but move more quickly towards that essential truth – who you really are in spirit. Seeing yourself clearly is the beginning of the ultimate act – self-forgiveness. It allows you to step fully into your truth and power.
If you’re working clairvoyantly you cannot be controlled by others, because the lies and pictures that enslave us are simply that; when you begin to operate outside of those controls – be they familial, societal, monetary or national – you will experience encompassing freedom and the ability to choose. You can regain your will, your passion, and your desire to live an authentic and passionate life.
All this is well and good, of course, but the real healing in bringing awareness to your Clairvoyance is that you will begin to soften to yourself. The lies and controls you have placed on yourself – because of other people’s judgements, pain, invalidation and jealousies will begin to fade away. It can feel like coming home to yourself; a beautiful reclaiming of your true life force and energy. Some people begin to feel more safe; to feel more comfortable with intimacy, to feel passionate about living again. Everyone’s journey is unique, but one thing is true, seeing yourself clearly and trusting in what you see will create the change you wish to see in yourself, and in the world. Clairvoyance will be essential in healing our planet and our lives in the decades to come.
There are many forms of turning on your clairvoyance and awakening your psychic self. None are more right than another. But this ability is yours, it is your birthright, and you have the right to see the truth! Claim it!
Read More...What is “Psychic”?
Contrary to popular belief, being psychic is not a super-power; it’s actually part of our innate human abilities. Great philosophers like Aristotle and psychologists like Carl Jung have written extensively about the human connection and ability to access and work with the “animus” – or life force. Everything has it, everything runs on it; it is what creates the world we live in today. Your life force is the most important energy in your life. How much of it do you have access to?
But the great gift of waking up your psychic abilities, whether it be clairvoyance (to see), clairaudience (to hear), clairsentience (to sense), your intuition, or the multitude of other ways we sense and perceive energy is not necessarily to be able to foresee the future, or fix or solve the lives of others. Sure, it’s a nice thing to give readings, healings, and to be able to give a hello to other people, psychically. But the true gift is to be able to see yourself, in present time, clearly.
Carl Jung writes that all of our decision making abilities, thoughts, feelings, and instincts are guided by underlying psychic energies – that unexplored and unchecked may wreak havoc on our lives. Indeed, we do create our own realities. The true gift of being psychic is to be neutral enough to clearly see these influences, and with the power of consciousness, to de-energize, transform, and re-shape them so they are no longer a hindrance – but actually assets.
Clairvoyance is an amazing tool for this, because if you can see an energy, you can get space with it. Almost like one would observe a painting at an art museum – you can take a step back from it, consider it, see what it reveals from all angles. You can then decide if you want to keep it, or if you’d like to change or adjust it. The choice then, becomes yours.
In a period of human history when all of our resources are spent exploring, deconstructing, and analyzing the outer world – very little attention is paid to the essence of our lives – our psyche. We’ve been so busy thinking about what we think that we’ve forgotten to ask what we already know. Your body personality (or psyche) contains the remains of everything you’ve ever experienced – in this life time and previous ones – the light and dark, the beautiful and ugly, the profound and ridiculous. In that, somewhere, is who you are.
The Buddhists would say that everything would change if we all followed the “eigthfold path” of the dharma, and that your psyche is merely a distraction. The Christians tell us that if only we put all of our faith in God, we would have a different world. The rationalists would say that if everyone was reasonable, and acted with intellect, that our world would be changed. The trouble is that none of these things would actually heal the division that has occurred between your conscious and unconscious – or psychic self.
So, what WILL heal you? You. More of your energy and life-force. You already have the answer to the life you want; and it is buried like a treasure deep within you. Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and find it? An energy healing can get things moving. A psychic reading can help you to see some of these energies that are obstructing your path. Classes and workshops on opening up your awareness can help you to begin to see yourself with the love and attention that you deserve. When a client comes to receive a reading or healing – my goal is that they get a hello to who they are in spirit; where they are working, where they are stuck, but more importantly – where they are beautiful. Where they are magnificent. We focus so much on what’s “wrong with us” that we forget how amazing we are. In that remembering is the real healing, for everyone.

I’m going to admit it – I’ve tried EVERY SINGLE DIET that exists. I’ve been on them all. Carb free, gluten free, Atkins, South Beach, Juice only. I’ve worked with a spiritual nutritionist for a year, and we did some radical healing work with whole food supplements and muscle testing that was amazing…. but completely no fun. I’ve been vegetarian, vegan, omnivorous and everything in between. I’ve had gym memberships off and on for about 12 years. I’ve worked with personal trainers, life coaches, body workers of all types and styles. I’ve gone drug free, alcohol free, chemical free. For about a year I used only baking soda and fresh ground sage as deodorant. I stopped using toothpaste and instead brushed with only chalk and sea salt water. If anyone ever mentions the Lemonade cleanse to me again – I will smack them in the face on the spot. No joke.
My personal health and well-being, despite all these fad diets, extreme healing paths and fanatical protests – “No, THIS is the way to health! No, THIS IS REALLY the way to health!” – my personal health and body well-being did not really start to heal until only just recently. Because I stopped trying to figure out who or what of all these modalities and “ways of living” were right and wrong, and just started just listening to my body. I mean – really really listening.

As you’ve probably noticed, our world is changing at an increasingly rapid pace. Everything seems to be happening faster and faster, and our perception of time and space is having to adjust to keep up with our mastery of technology. Things like email, instant messaging, text messaging, and video chatting are making it possible to communicate in ways that only a few years ago we couldn’t even dream of. Everything now seems to be happening instantaneously, or on-demand.

Choose love, choose life.
From the film, “The Hours”
Virginia: If I were thinking clearly Leonard, I would tell you that I wrestle alone in the dark, in the deep dark and only I can know, only I can understand my own condition. You live with the threat; you tell me, you live with the threat of my extinction. Leonard, I live with it too. This is my right. It is the right of every human being. I choose not to suffocate in the anesthetic of the suburb but the violent jolt of the capital. That is my choice. The meanest patient, yes, even the lowest is allowed some say in the matter of her own prescription. That by which she defines her humanity. I wish, for your sake, Leonard that I could be happy in this quietness but if it is a choice between Richmond and death, I choose death.
Leonard (on the brink of tears): Very well, London then. We go back to London then.
Virginia: You cannot find peace by avoiding life, Leonard.

”You will never be able to get rid of certain defects. The trick is to know that despite your flaws you are an extraordinary person. Go beyond limits that you are used to – be the person you dream to be. If the flaw is shyness, stimulate conversation. If the flaw is guilt, approve of yourself. If you think that the world ignores you, be attractive. You will experience challenges, but it’s worth it.” – Paulo Coelho
If you’re seeking love in the world – even from relationships you’re already in – you must first choose to love yourself.
Choose to love your body – We live in a culture that promotes shared pain and bonding with others over wounds. Would you feed a child you love arsenic? Would you put dangerous chemicals in your family’s food? Why would you choose to feed your body dangerous and damaging chemicals and materials? It takes an amazing amount of disrespect and self-hatred to alter your body’s chemistry in dangerous and damaging ways. Choose to love your body, and watch it flourish as you show it your love and care. Take time to listen to what it has to tell you. It is very smart, and like a puppy – all it wants is your love. Do you show love to your body in ways that feel good? Do you train yourself through positive reinforcement and joy – or do you show love through punishment?
Choose to love your spirit - Take the risk of loving and accepting yourself, flaws and all. You’re right were you’re supposed to be in this lifetime – even if it sucks. There’s no fight, no challenge, no battle to be won – just experience to be had. There is growth, change, and beauty that comes from first standing still – embracing the present moment and the world simply as it is without judgement. From that place, you can experience freedom to move forward in any way you choose! How magical is that. Choose to love your spirit – who you are in present-time, and be free from running from the past, or running towards things that exist only in your mind (the future). Take steps forward into the magical unknown. Other people can only love you in ways – and as much – as you love yourself. So if you are finding that other people don’t love you, it’s because on some level, you don’t love who you are in the present moment. So how can anyone else love you?
Read More...Are you unsatisfied?
The satisfaction you might be seeking in your life comes from knowing that everything in your life – all the magic, all the beauty, all the wonder; all the challenges, all the pain, all the desire for something more – comes not from some external source, but from within you. You reality is the energy that surrounds you, and you can choose to surround yourself with the beauty and majesty of your own energy and life-force, or you can surround yourself with other energies and be a victim to them.
You don’t choose to ignore feelings and experiences that displease you, but you accept them readily – as experiences that help you further define yourself, your life, your space, and that give guidance in new directions. You have to get real about what it happening in your life. And not the life you think you can have – the one you’re experiencing today. Only then can you create change in your own energy and reality. Only by changing ourselves will we create a common dream for the future – and change the world.

Music is a huge part of my life (and almost everyone I know!) Music has the ability to relate me to a particular time and place – I can still listen to songs that I loved at particular times in my life and almost “sense” that time and place again. I see music almost like a time capsule – you can find out a lot about a particular time in my life based on the music that I’m into.
So this year, I’ve put together an mp3 playlist of the songs that I listened to most this year. Some of them are happy, some of them are sad, but all of them represent the year as it was. I hope that you’ll enjoy the tracks – and maybe fall in love with some artists you didn’t know or think you’d love.

Here’s Chanticleer singing one of my favorite choral pieces, “Ave Maria” as arranged by Franz Biebl.

Read More...Coming out of the closet… again.
In my life, I’ve come out of many closets. 12 years ago, I came out of the closet as a gay man. While no surprise to family and friends, there was definitely an adjustment process as my life re-arranged around coming to terms with, and making “real” in a very visible way, this truth about myself. It took some time to get used to; both for me and for everyone else. But eventually, it became just a fact of life – in fact, I rarely even think about it anymore.
Almost 4 years ago, I took a one night meditation workshop at InVision, a school for psychics in Chicago, and realized that my sensitivity and awareness of energy – which I had always been afraid of, nervous of, and controlled by – was actually something beautiful, normal and a very natural part of being human. This understanding opened up a new world for me, as I learned the art of clairvoyance, how to meditate, and how to give and receive psychic readings and energy healings. For a time, I devoted myself full time to studying at InVision, and giving professional psychic readings. I “came out” again as a psychic – again eliciting a wide range of response from family, friends and colleagues – some people became closer to me, some grew apart, some simply didn’t understand. As children and young adults, most people spend a considerable amount of their energy trying to fit in, to not stand out, to be “like everyone else.” There are, of course, exceptions to this, but for the most part our families groom us to fit in to a group or society, to not attract attention, to not stand out. This can be very healthy, as it keeps us safe, keeps us protected, and allows up to grow.

Tomorrow night’s Aries new moon is a doozey. I listen to the energy of astrology – the cycles and patterns that are above have reflection or mirrors down below. According to Barbara Hand Clow, who I follow for information on this:
“… The “Mars affect” peaked during the Libra Full Moon on March 29/30, when many of you found yourselves resolving some very deep old conflicts. In the Spring Equinox reading, I noted that from the spring Mars positions would give you “strength, will power, and a clear sense of direction,” and that you’d be “emotionally stable while undertaking difficult things.” Quite a few of you tackled something that was locking you up; you won your personal battle; and you are poised and ready to use more of your creativity.
Please take a few moments to reflect on what you were doing around the time of the Full Moon from about March 27 through April 2; this will help you to reflect on how you can use the powers of this extremely potent Aries New Moon. Who or what did you struggle with until you all found a resolution? During this period, we’ve been pushing back to balance, to make new agreements, to let go of old paths, which has been stressful.
But Saturn is the key to this April new moon. You will find great energy for overcoming obstacles and realizing your intentions. How are your Spring Equinox intentions coming along? Are you amazed by the firepower you’ve had these last three weeks, are you impressed with how you can create what you want? If so, then this closely focused Saturn aspect means that you really can achieve your ideals, especially if you make an alliance with spirit. This month is a great month to remember to ask spirit for what you need, and to assume you have all the help you need. You do, and you will probably accomplish a lot, and you will also be amazed by the exposures and revelations coming from the collective. Things are going to change, it is only a matter of how much any one of us resists that change.”
Read More...Resurrection
Yesterday, the world was changed. Whether you ascribe to Judeo-Christian theology, pagan theology, astrology, or no theology, the energy is present everywhere on the planet and in the stars today. (And yesterday’s earthquake in Southern California is proof!
) The world shifted yesterday; the old world of sin and darkness has given way to light. Christ, the son/sun, the sun god Ra, whatever you choose to call him, has been miraculously reborn and resurrected in the world – and in you. This takes place not only in ancient stories and biblical texts, but also in the formation and movements of specific planets and stars in the sky which the ancients understood in a way that most have lost connection to. Their wisdom was that, “so above, so below”, and these changes and shifts in the energy and patterns of the cosmos – and our relation to them on earth – also take place within our own psyche – you might say in a very psychic sense, energetically.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness gets a bit of a bad rap, in my opinion, as something very wishy-washy or new-agey. Almost as if people who operate from a space of forgiveness in their lives are simply doormats, willing to accept anything and who are weak or non-confrontational. In my work and life, I find almost the exact opposite to be true. For me, forgiveness is a brawny, active, almost muscular thing that is universally inherent to human beings.
Read More...Looking for support?
When you’re considering making significant changes in your energy or your life, or looking to create something new – a new project, career, relationship, or routine, it can feel a little uncomfortable to your body. If you’re shifting or moving around within your internal landscape, it can be hard to know what is “real” – which can be more than a little terrifying! You might fall into habits that would have you rely on family, friends, loved ones to create a sense of safety that will allow you to take that next, big, scary step. It’s completely natural for us to rely on each other in this way, but it can create undue pressure on our relationships – particularly if you’re going through a really rough period with lots of upheaval. The other option may be to pull inward, and isolate yourself until the change has occurred, which can be uncomfortable for your body, which craves attention, contact and stimulus.
So what is the other option? You can rely on the earth for support. Yep, the entire earth is there for you to lean on – at all times. You don’t have to ask for permission, you don’t have to justify it, you don’t need to be responsible for it. It’s been there for you your entire lifetime – in fact, it’s been there for all of us. And it’s not going anywhere! Our bodies are made of minerals, compounds, and matter that is of the earth, so working with earth energy can be a great healing for your body. It can give you the strength and support that you’re looking for – and it’s within you. You don’t need to look outside of yourself for what you crave.
If you’ve never been consciously in communication with the earth, you might be in for a treat. The earth has wisdom and energy that is very, very old – but is also constantly in motion, movement, and change. The earth is constantly recycling itself; constantly creating, destroying, and recreating itself. You might say that it is sympathetic to your journey and the changes you wish to make. It knows all about how difficult that can be. It can be a sympathetic and healing force for you to lean on and be supported by. All you have to do is ask for it, and the earth will show you, in magical ways, that it is there for you.
I’m leading a free, guided meditation workshop in April about creating space for growth and change by being in communication with the earth. If you’ve never participated in a psychic energy or guided meditation workshop, I encourage you to come out and explore it for yourself! If you’re feeling nervous – just ask the earth for a little push. Learn more about the workshop here.

There is more to you than meets the eye.
Most people live their lives blindly accepting what is presented to them as reality and as truth. They spend their time and energy considering matters of survival – ie, food, shelter, clothing; or matters of empathy – ie, social relationships, communities, fitting into groups; or matters of achievement and recognition. There’s nothing wrong with any of these areas of focus – in fact, it’s important and beneficial to have these life skills nailed down! The alternatives are not surviving, not fitting in, and not feeling as tho you are contributing to your life.
Read More...You’re more than a spirit – you’re a body too.
“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Teilhard de Chardin
In any spiritual practice or information, you quickly learn that you’re more than your body. This can be both liberating and confusing. It’s easy to begin to live your life in energy, live in spirit. That can be the “fun” part. But it’s important to remember that you’re still a body too. And that doesn’t have to be a downer.
Your energy, or life-force, is the power you possess as a being. It is where you create from, where you dream from, who you are in spirit. It’s the part deep within that you connect with in those moments of inspiration, of true affinity; it is the part of you that is aware and awakened when you enter your inner landscape through meditation, prayer, or simply your imagination.
But you are more than just a spirit, or life-force. It’s imperative to remember that you have a body, too! As a spiritual being in human form, you interact with the third dimension, or time and space. Our bodies are made from earth energy, in the form of chemicals, compounds and matter. The forces that have formed the earth like gravity, atmosphere, and food supply have shaped what our bodies are, what they need, and how they function. This synergy creates an unbreakable bond between our bodies and the earth.
Our bodies have their own operating system, and need little attention from our spirit to function. That might sound weird, but you’ve experienced this many times of your own life – when your spirit checks out of your body, wether trough daydreaming, sleeping or heavy drinking.
Think about driving a car, for example. That feeling of “auto-pilot” is really you setting your body to perform an activity without you being conscious or present. Think about sleeping. While you are exploring the inner landscape of your spirit, or cavorting out on the astral dimensions as a being, your body is happily performing all the necessary functions for you to continue living. Breathing, digesting, circulating blood. Your body really requires very little of your attention to function. Think of people who sleepwalk! Or all the people around you that seem to be “asleep at the wheel” – merely going thru the motions without thinking, feeling, or really being themselves.
Bodies like and need few things, but the things they do need – they need in great and consistent quantity to be comfortable.
- Bodies like to feel safe. They like to feel protected from danger.
- Bodies like to be nourished. They like to be fed, watered, and given sustenance.
- Bodies like physical affection. They like to be touched, played with. They like to run and exert, they like it when energy is in movement.
- Bodies like to have freedom of choice. They like to be affirmed, recognized, appreciated.
Learning to listen to your body can open up a world of change and growth in your life. What messages is your body sending to you? Are you tuned in to these? What signs and signals have you been avoiding or ignoring? Bodies don’t like to be neglected, and the longer you refuse to listen to its wants and needs, the louder the shouting will become. A toothache will turn into oral cancer. A cough or cold will turn into bronchitis.
Dis-comfort or Dis-ease is your bodies response to a foreign energy, or a way of telling you that there is something in the third dimensional environment around you (time and space) it is not in agreement with.
Are you listening? It might be telling you to slow down, to give it time to acclimate, time to heal. It might be telling you to speed up – that it is capable and interested in more stimulus or activity than you are allowing or providing. Your body has information and experience, and can teach you great things.
When your spirit is not tuned in to your body, or listening to its feedback and advice, you can feel disconnected from reality. You can feel out of place in your relationships. Survival (food, shelter, clothing) might seem difficult or unattainable. Your emotions might feel overwhelming or uncomfortable. You can feel trapped or limited in your life. Oftentimes people will blame these things on everyone or everything around them – but really it is because they are simply not listening to their own bodies feedback and advice. Your body knows a lot about this world, about functioning well on planet earth. Remember, this is where it came from.
Your body can be your friend or your enemy. You can treat your body like a partner on your spiritual path, or it can be an obstacle. Some people, when embarking on a path inward towards knowing their true energy or being will neglect and dis-associate from their body.
But it’s yours, it’s amazingly complex, it has a vast knowledge of information to give you, and its the only one you get this time around. Are you listening to it, learning from it, allowing it time and space to be a true partner in your life?

I had a great time last night on my podcast, “Unexpectedly Psychic” with my pal and colleague, Kirstin Travers Smith. The conversation we had, and the readings I participated in, lit something up in my space that has been working its way to the surface. And today, as I was walking to get some lunch, it hit me like a ton of bricks.
You can spend your life searching for magic, for something magical, for amazement, for wonder. Something to give your life, our lives, this existance, meaning. But the more we explore space, and all its inhospitableness, the fact that human beings have somehow managed to survive – thrive even – on this rock spinning in the middle of a vast universe, is really magic enough. So, today – eat well. Laugh. Love. Hug someone. The magic is that none of this should exist at all. It’s all an incredible gift.
Happy Valentine’s Day!

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves like books that are written in a very foreign tongue. Do not seek the answers, which you would not be able to live. The point is, to live everything. Live the questions. You will gradually, without noticing it, live some distant day into your answers.” — Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke

Most people spend a great deal of their lives in a state of punishment. This energy can be so present that we no longer even notice it – it feels “normal” or “natural”. The most surprising thing about this is that most of the time, the punishment comes from within ourselves.
Read More...Going with the flow.

Often times, clients look to me as if I have all the answers – I certainly don’t make that claim. Each person is responsible for their own answers and truth. What I can do is sense and perceive energy, which is very different than having all the answers! One of the great things about working with energy and being psychic is that I make space to grow, learn, and change in my life too!
In my own life, I continue to get stuck all the time. One of the biggest lessons I find myself learning over and over (and over) is to “go with the flow.” I habitually try to control the outcome of my manifestations, and definitely get stuck creating “perfect pictures” – i.e. – if I just get this one thing – then everything will be perfect.
I came to San Francisco in October and fell in love with the city. The bay area is magical – especially for this boy from the midwest suburbs. The natural beauty, the energy of the ocean, the laid-back attitude of Californians was like an exotic dream. Not to mention the food – don’t get me started on the food!
But since I’ve been here, I’ve struggled a bit to ground, and to make being here “real.” I’ve been looking for additional work (those San Fran rents are high, folks!) and for an appropriate living situation. All the while, I’ve been spending time staying with friends and a really great guy I’ve been dating.
But you know what? It’s just not working. There’s no flow of energy, no serendipity, and I’ve been suspicious of that. What’s the problem? What needs to be cleared? Where am I handling energy that isn’t my own? I’ve been trying hard to figure it all out, to clear what needs to be cleared, and to get what I thought I wanted – a job, an apartment, and a life picture that “made sense.”
What I forgot was that when things are right, they just work out. Simply, without effort, and definitely without “hard work.” Oh, sure, I could try harder, I could force myself to take a job I wasn’t excited about, I could finagle some kind of apartment rental. But none of it would feel right. It wouldn’t be me.
Myself? I’m a seeker. I’m always on the move these days; its a part of myself I’m really enjoying exploring. I spent years feeling pinned down and trapped. Through intensive energy work, meditation, and clearing I recently found a great amount of freedom and now there is always a new opportunity on the horizon that is evocative, exciting and full of new adventure – when I’m in my flow.
So today, I blew up my perfect picture of being in San Francisco. Of how it’s all supposed to work. What it’s supposed to look like. And you know what? I got to say hello to the opportunity to travel to Seattle in February, back to Chicago in March, and New Orleans in April. Sounds kinda fun, right?
Now, a life like that might sound horrible to you, and this constant moving and traveling is definitely not for everyone! But what I’m trying to say is – if you’re trying to fit into a perfect picture of how things are “supposed” to work, and it’s not your truth, it will eat away at you. You’ll feel invalidated, not good enough. In part, because you aren’t. You’re trying to succeed at a game that simply isn’t yours.
Now, there’s a price to pay for making these kinds of choices. I might have to say goodbye to some really awesome people. But I’m sure I’ll see them again, and besides, relationships these days are mobile, elastic, and transferrable. And San Francisco will always be here, right? I’m excited that I was able to change my perspective and see an abundance being offered to me in other areas of my life.
Play your own game. The one you choose for yourself. Run your own energy, life-force, truth. Make choices and decisions based on what will make you happy – not anyone else. The rest will fall into place – that’s what happens when you’re in the flow.
Read More...Healing the healer.
There are people in our society that we immediately identify as healers. Doctors and nurses heal our bodies. Lawyers heal our legal troubles. Teachers heal our minds. Once you start to open up your awareness to how much healing really goes on in day to day life, you begin to notice healing happening around you all the time.
You might be a healer , and you might not be aware of how much of your energy is invested in healing or taking care of other people or their problems. You might be the spiritual healer of your workplace, your family, your friends or colleagues. People might see you as the one who “keeps everything together”, or “smooths everything over.” It’s a powerful role to have in any group, but like anything, it has a price.
If too much of your energy is invested in taking care of everyone else, you might be unconsciously taking on everyone else energy. How often have you heard someone say, “I feel so much better when I hang out with you!” Maybe you’re the only one at work that is capable of keeping the peace – constantly in the middle of childish squabbles and relationship problems. Meanwhile, you feel tired, or stretched thin. There’s often never any energy left at the end of the day to deal with your own life – so you sweep it under the rug.
Chances are, there are things in your life that you’re healing all the time. And you may not be getting validated for being in this important role in your relationships. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Once you start becoming more aware where your energy, or life-force, is being directed, you can start to see how its affecting others, and also, where you might be leaking energy like a garden hose! You might be healing a whole bunch of situations and relationships that really aren’t that important to you any more. They might be in past time. You might be ready to let some things fail – so that you can create something new in their place.
If you’re in a bunch of situations or relationships that aren’t fulfilling or validating to you, and you’re waiting for other people to change – you might be waiting for a really long time. Chances are, they’ve got you exactly where they want you – your healing energy is extremely valuable! Why should they begin to heal themselves – you’re doing a perfectly good job for them!
Perhaps it’s time for you to call some of your energy back to yourself – so you can create new things in present time that resonate with who you are in spirit. The hardest obstacle you’ll encounter when beginning to call back your own energy is guilt. Guilt that you should be obligated to fix everyone and everything else. “But if I stop healing them, they will suffer” is a common energy we handle – and it can keep you (and them) stuck. It simply isn’t true. All healing is self-healing, and each and every person is capable of healing themselves and creating the life they want to lead with just their own energy. It’s really that simple.
Sometimes we keep over-healing because people tell us how great we are, how much they love our energy. That can be very validating, but can also create an inequity – if they continually rely on your energy to “feel better”, you can be stuck needing to generate enough energy for more people than just yourself! And your energy always runs better in your own space. You can be stuck in a network of friends, colleagues and relatives that “rely” on you for so much – there might not be much left for you in your own life!
You can learn to heal without giving it all away. You can learn to create a healing space for others to heal themselves, without them needing your energy to do so. You can be validated as the healer that you are by learning how to heal yourself first. You can become responsible for your own energy alone instead of everyone else’s, and you’ll let go of feeling “in control” of situations and relationships that you’re really not in control of anyways. It makes it easier to know your own life-force more clearly, to find your own answers, and to make choices that resonate with you in spirit. It doesn’t mean that you don’t have compassion. It simply means that you require the people around you to find their own answers and to heal themselves too.
The funny thing is – that’s when the magic happens.
By healing yourself, you actually become the healing for others. And you won’t need to do anything – simply by being yourself, healing your own space and energy, you’ll get to have more in your life, and so will everyone else.
Others will follow your lead. They’ll start growing and changing too, just because you have. So who heals the healer? The healer themselves!
If you want to heal the world – heal yourself first.
Read More...Dreaming of something new.

As we grow older, an inevitable part of that process is that we stop dreaming as a child dreams. We become practical creatures, instead relying on the way things are to create a sense of safety and security in our lives. But what we miss out on is our ability to create a new world for ourselves to inhabit and grow into. Children know this intimately; they dream of fantasy worlds, of out of reach occupations (what child says, I want to be a banker?) and of new, innovative inventions.
We become experts at underestimating ourselves, and in that, underestimating others, and this negative energy can influence the entire space around you, wether at work, at home or with friends. You’ve seen people like this in your life – just a simple look at a person running this energy, and you know they’ve stopped dreaming. You know that they are stuck.
Likewise, you can adjust your energy and become a beacon of light within that dark energy. People will look at you differently. People will know – empathically – that you are a person with a dream. A person who still has access to that part of yourself. It’s a very attractive energy to be in – but it will also make you stand out in a crowded room. That can be a little uncomfortable at first!
Reconnecting to that part of you that dreams, that has an ability to create a new dream for yourself and create change to get there, can be an amazing healing for your spirit AND your body. It puts you back on a path of growing, changing, and learning that satisfies an inherent need in the human lifetime. It will stimulate all the agreements and energies that would prefer you remain unchanging, and this can be painful and difficult. But it will create opportunity not only for you, but for everyone around you to evolve and grow closer towards their own dreams.
We are born in supreme fragility, and we die in supreme fragility. Why are we so frightened of what is in between, seeking to keep things the same, to plateau and remain “safe”? Life is the adventure. It’s the time to take risks. It’s the time to create new world for yourself, and for others. To gamble it all for what your heart is drawn to. As you create resolutions for this new year, the beginning of a new decade, why not look towards the bigger picture? Reconnect to that part of you that is still a creative, imaginary child; yearning for something bigger in your life. Create a healing for yourself – and in that, a healing for others, and a healing for the whole world.
Read More...Year’s End
As 2009 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on where things are ending in my life, and also where things are beginning – like seedlings poking through the ground at the first sign of spring.
In order to create something new, space must be created for it by releasing energy that has been invested in the old or outdated thing. Sometimes its people, places or things – but sometimes it’s letting go of simply an idea or a picture of what you used to want. Are your current desires in present time? Do they adequately reflect who you are today, as opposed to who you used to be?
How have you changed over the past year? What did you learn about yourself and about the world? Are you allowing this new information, knowledge and experience to influence and flavor your life in positive, growth inspiring ways?
Changing your goals or desires can be interpreted by some as failure; but it can also be seen as allowing yourself to evolve, grow and change. From an energetic perspective, there’s no failure in adjusting the picture of your future or your life. In fact, if you allow yourself freedom to do this, it can be very liberating!
Most people are heavily invested in keeping things the same. In fact, whole lives can be constructed around keeping the status quo, not rocking the boat, and making everyone around them comfortable by not shaking things up. But often times, this is the exact thing that leaves us feeling so unfulfilled and unsatisfied with our own lives. We yearn for something more, long for something new, and want fresh influence and energy in our lives and dreams.
Maybe it’s time to consider in your own life where you’re ready to move on, end things that are based on old dreams or old self-image pictures, and create something new. Maybe that’s a new job, maybe a new home, maybe even a new city. Or maybe it’s something more internal – a new way of seeing yourself, a fresh look at who you are in present time and what you want for your own future. What are the things that you’d like to experience?
Creating change will no doubt shake things up, and people in your life will react in various ways; excited to see you achieving your goals, but also scared and nervous at how that might change their relationship with you. Some people may even react negatively – if you begin to create growth and change, it might begin to show them where they are stuck too! But if you’re finding yourself increasingly unsatisfied, it might be time to rock the boat a little and adjust your course. After all, it’s your lifetime – and it’s all about what experiences, opportunities, and relationships you want to create for yourself. Give yourself the freedom of clarity and movement this new year!
Read More...The secret’s out – you’re psychic.
Everyone is psychic! Isn’t that a scary thought? What if every person you encountered throughout your day could sense, or “read” your energy? I hate to tell you, but people are reading your energy all the time – just as you’re reading everyone else. You might get a gut feeling, an instinct, or just a “knowing” about certain things, certain people, or places. You’re reading, or sensing, energy.Asking for it.
Recently, I read a woman who was having trouble with some anger in her life. She just felt angry all the time. At people, at events, at her child, even at her pet. Here’s the kicker – she had no idea why she was so angry. Everything in her life was fine. But she had tried everything, and she just couldn’t make her anger go away.
In the reading, I found an energy picture that went something like this: She was a kid at Christmas, and in front of her was a mound of presents. Each one was fine. They were nice gifts. She was happy with them. But there were other kids all around her opening up their gifts, and their gifts were awesome! New, high tech toys. Fancy Barbie dream houses. All sorts of things that seemed magical and exciting. In this picture, she was angry and pouty and sad. She wanted what everyone else was getting! She wanted magic!
Upon a deeper look, it became clear that in this picture (and therefor her life) she had given up her right to ask for what she wanted. In fact, she had deferred to her parents to decide “what she was going to get for christmas” for her. And it’s not that the things she’d been given – or the life they had picked for her – was bad, or wrong. In fact it was quite nice. But it wasn’t what she would have picked for herself. She wanted something different; something more.
You see, her parents wanted her to be safe, and to be happy. They had the best of intention. They chose some nice toys for her. It was the best way they knew how to provide those things for her life. And it’s not that they were wrong or cruel or wanted to take advantage of her – but as she grew into the woman she is today, those things have become less relevant. They have become less of what she would pick for herself. She felt guilty for wanting something different or more when what she had been given – what was decided she should have – was so nice. Who was she to ask for more or different when so many people had so little? Who was she to say no to her parents ideas of what her life should be like? This was the genesis of the anger that had been afflicting her. Guilt of being unhappy, and for wanting more control on her “Christmas gift list.”
When I asked her what in her life she would change if she had the freedom to do so, without consideration for what anyone else would think or say to her, she quickly replied – “everything.”
I told her she’s got a lot of work to do, then.

A little bit about the history of Halloween.
(from wikipedia)
Halloween has origins in the ancient festival known as Samhain (pronounced sow-in or sau-an), which is derived from Old Irish and means roughly “summer’s end”. This was a Gaelic festival celebrated mainly in Ireland and Scotland. However, similar festivals were held by other Celts – for example the festival of Calan Gaeaf (pronounced kalan-geyf) which was held by the ancient Britons.
The celebration has some elements of a festival of the dead. The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the Otherworld became thin on Samhain, allowing spirits (both harmless and harmful) to pass through. The family’s ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. It is believed that the need to ward off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit and thus avoid harm. In Scotland the spirits were impersonated by young men dressed in white with masked, veiled or blackened faces. Samhain was also a time to take stock of food supplies and slaughter livestock for winter stores. Bonfires played a large part in the festivities. All other fires were doused and each home lit their hearth from the bonfire. The bones of slaughtered livestock were cast into its flames. Sometimes two bonfires would be built side-by-side, and people and their livestock would walk between them as a cleansing ritual.
Another common practise was divination, which often involved the use of food and drink.
The name Halloween and many present-day traditions, derive from the Old English era.
In the 800s, the Catholic Church measured the day as starting at sunset, in accordance with the Florentine calendar. Although All Saints’ Day is now considered to occur one day after Halloween, the two holidays were once celebrated on the same day.

Into the Wild
This weekend, like so many, I was thrilled to go and check out Spike Jonze & Dave Eggers screen adaptation of the beloved children’s book, “Where The Wild Things Are.” What I didn’t count on (but should have) was that my life would be an exact mirror of what I was seeing onscreen.
To me, the film depicted the book in a way that was honest and insightful. On the surface, it’s a children’s book about the way kids escape to imagination as a way of coping with difficult emotions.
But what I really see (and what the movie pulled out so brilliantly) was the hidden message within the book, which is that there’s an awareness, an understanding and a brilliance that lives within the psyche or subconscious of all children… and that awareness is the energy of innocence.
The beauty of innocence is that it allows one to look at sometime or experience something with fresh eyes, unaffected by pain, punishment and invalidation. It allows one to see and experience the present as it truly is – and it’s an amazingly powerful gift.
The problem with innocence is that it cannot last. inevitably, we get hurt. Our outlook shifts. We become disillusioned. Things just never end up being what they seem. There’s a part of us that wants to shield ourselves from this disillusionment – and we do this by never really experiencing the present, which in turn keeps us from ever really being fully in innocence. I see this with parents, “protecting” their children from reality.
From where I work, energetically and spiritually, the truly great part of being human lies in regaining innocence where it has been lost. You begin in innocence, you experience hurt, pain, or disillusionment, but then you have the opportunity to heal. And you are allowed to create innocence again. By shielding yourself or others from this hurt, you never really complete the cycle and therefor your growth can be stunted. You can stop moving forward, and stay mired in pain and invalidation.
In order to heal, Max had to go to a place where it was safe for him to experience healing. And his healing was processing thru his imagination, where the characters of his dreams played out – in very real ways – the pain of his real life. When he returns home at the end of the film, and watches his mother fall asleep on the table in front of him, he experiences innocence again thru the forgiveness he feels for his mother – and of course, for himself.
Life is a continual cycle of innocence, pain, and rebirth. To deny yourself any of those three keeps things from ever feeling complete.
As I alluded to at the beginning of this post, I was also given the opportunity to renew innocence in my own life yesterday as well. To move past the pains of the past, and look directly at what I’ve always hoped for in the future. And very innocently (some may say – even childishly) jump in with both feet and hope that this time it might really be mine to have.
Read More...Fear itself
Last night I went to see the movie, “Paranormal Activity”, which has been all the rage on blogs and social media. It was great! Shot entirely with a handheld camera in a documentary style, it was sort of a modern day Blair-witch for people who are really into all those cable ghost-hunter shows. It had all the stuff you’d expect – creaking doors, phantom footsteps, heavy breathing coming from the walls. It had some other suprises too, that I won’t ruin here.
When I left the theater – scared out of my pants – I felt exhilarated. My heart was pounding, my adrenaline was rushing, I felt really alive. And it got me to thinking about the energy of fear, and how it affects us.
Fear stimulates in the body an energy that brings your attention into the present moment in a very attentive, urgent way. This is the body’s response to whatever creates the reaction – sometimes you’ll hear this called “fight or flight.” It brings you into the present moment so you can make life or death decisions in survival situations.
Fortunately for most of us, life is not about survival anymore. We don’t have to fight over the latest kill with waring tribes, we don’t have to be on the lookout for wild animals around every tree who might pounce and kill us.
So what role does fear play in our world today?
Some people can become addicted to fear – well, more exactly, this body level response to it. You know these people – always looking for the next high, the next mountain to jump off of, the next daring adventure. For some people this, is very fulfilling, and they get a great deal of satisfaction from putting themselves, continually, in this state.
But some people become addicted to fear without realizing. They are constantly in “fight or flight” – always responding to some unseen impetus to run or attack. Always on the lookout for the hidden danger. Their bodies have been conditioned by energies outside of themselves to be constantly in a state of fear. This can be exhausting to your body, creating (instead of exhilaration) lethargy, un-focus, and confusion. It can also make it incredibly hard to create an intimate relationship – with yourself.
When I left the movie theater last night, I was aware at how stimulated my body was. But using the energy tools that I work with, I was careful and conscious of clearing the energy of fear out of my space so that I didn’t remain in the energy of fear for the rest of the night. Who wants to be on a roller coaster that never ends?
In some ways, I think FDR was absolutely right. Since there’s so little to actually be “afraid” of nowadays, the biggest fear we have is fear itself. Being conditioned into it against our will, where it hijacks all our senses and our lives become trapped in fight or flight.

Where are you living in fear? If you’re finding it hard to overcome energy blocks around being afraid, a reading may help you find clarity. A healing may help you move the energy effortlessly. An energy coaching session may help give you tools to manage and shift the energy on your own.

Read More...Into the dark forest
Every life is lived in between dichotomies. Night and day, happy and sad, clear and unclear. You could say that in some ways, everything about our lives are defined by these frameworks – which themselves are made up of opposing/contrasting, yet oddly similar ideas or concepts. Your very day is a dichotomy, because it begins and it ends – each of those being opposite on the spectrum, and everything that happens being a part of the progression to get from one to the other.
A lifetime, from where I work psychically, is like that too. If you want to know where you’re headed in life, all you need to do is look at where you came from. In most people, you’re headed for the very opposite, or other end of the dichotomy. If you came from a family that was all rules and regulations – you are most likely searching or questing for freedom. If you came from a place that was empty, or devoid of feeling or emotion – chances are you’re looking to experience depth of emotion that mirrors that.
But what happens when the place you came from was great. kindhearted. forgiving. loving, even. Yet you still choose to leave?
The spiritual path, or the path of the seeker (to use an archetype) is one where no matter where you came from, the very thing that was presented as the good, right and well thing – a life, a job, a marriage – anything, really, is just not enough. There’s a calling to find something more. Something different.
This can be very confusing to the people you choose to leave behind. They can be angry, fearful and hurt. In a way, it can seem like you’re rejecting them. But that’s not always the case. Sometimes, it’s just this itch that needs to be scratched. To walk alone into the dark forest.
In the dark forest your strength is tested. Your resolve is beaten down. You experience pain, grief, sadness and loss. But you discover yourself. Your true strength. The commitment you have to yourself. The depth of human experience that enlivens you in moments of grief. These are the things that create the path of the seeker. These are exactly the things the seeker is looking for.
What’s on the other side sometimes doesn’t really matter. Because like all things on the spiritual path, it’s not about the destination – it’s about the journey. It’s about becoming familiar with parts of yourself forgotten. It’s about tuning into your unique energy. It’s about the depth of human experience. What you are really seeking – is yourself.
It’s taken me years to find the resolve to never stop searching until I find what I’m looking for. To not feel guilt or shame at the path that it takes to get there – both light and dark. The thing I seek – each day – is me. My own spirit, my own unique life-force.

Last night, I had plans. There was something here in San Fran that I had my eye on doing, that I had already bought a ticket for and was planning on going to. It wasn’t a one time thing, but it was something that I’ve had on my calendar since before I even got here.
I didn’t make it.
But let me take a step back.
A friend and colleague of mine had passed along my name and number to a friend of hers out here, prompting us both that we should definitely get together. We made plans to get a coffee and chit chat – she’s into holistic healing/medicine, and also on the board of a local nonprofit. Seemed like we’d have a lot to talk about. About an hour before our meeting, she called me and asked me if I wanted to go to a fundraising event that night – her “date” had bailed.
Everything inside me told me to say no. I had plans for the night already. I didn’t know this woman. What was this event?
But, trusting the universe to lead me only into beautiful disasters, I said yes. I ran to a little resale shop and bought a smart little corduroy jacket, met up with my new friend, and away we went.
You know what? I had the most amazing time. This new friend, Paula, ran me into City Hall, where I checked out the rotunda. We went to this fabulous pool party fundraiser for homeless youth. At the event they were auctioning off the opportunity to “toss” famous people into the pool. It was MCed by Cindy Williams. (Laverne & Shirley). There were a bunch of half naked 49′ers. Some really interesting and amazing people.
I wasn’t supposed to go. I already had plans.
When you allow yourself to be open; to new influence, to new experience, to new energy – you always end up in a new place. With new people. Doing new things.
Wasn’t it John Lennon who said, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans”? The older I get, the more I find this to be true. And thank god, because it’s always infinitely more interesting than what I plan.

So almost a week in San Francisco and things are really starting to take shape. Having a great time being the houseguest of my friend Ron, meeting his friends and getting an insider’s guide to the city. Spent most of the weekend hanging out in the Castro as it was the Castro Street Fair, the last big outdoor festival in SF. Street Fairs are pretty much the same wherever you are, but it was fun to get a glimpse of the SF social scene and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city.
Things that I’ve learned this weekend include:
1) If you run into a bunch of Irish students, don’t let them buy you shots. Just don’t.
2) NorCal weather gets chillier than expected. Come prepared with a sweatshirt or hoody.
3) People are generally friendly everywhere you go.
This week, I’m meeting up with some other friends who are out here, scoping for places to build a practice, making appointments for readings and healings and generally being touristy. I plan to check out Golden Gate Park, head down to the Embarcadero for lunch tomorrow, check out a couple of Psychic community resources and generally spread out. I love the Castro, but there’s so much more to the Bay!
Oh, this month I’m offering $25 off any full priced reading or healing, and an additional $100 off any 4 or 6 pack of private energy coaching sessions. So mention this blog if you’re interested in the discounted services. (PS – you can also gift readings and healings for friends and family! ask me how.)
Read More...The Power of Goodbye

The last few weeks, I’ve found myself walking around the city of Chicago, the place I’ve called home for the last 31 years, in a bit of a nostalgic stupor. I’ve encountered so many “last time I’ll do…” moments that I could write an entire post just about the meaning behind particular places, events, and activities.
But I won’t.
Because when I sit and reflect on getting ready to leave this city – I’m just so damn happy to be doing so. Not that all the memories, the friends, the experiences weren’t and aren’t meaningful – but exactly because they were.
You see, I so strongly believe that our lives are meant to be lived as stories. And each chapter leads to the next (unless its a choose-your-own-adventure, in which case its a little more random, which can be fun too). So the greatest way to honor and treat the memories, people and experience of the past is to move on from them. You created an experience – whether it was a relationship, a great night out, or living with a particular roommate – for a reason, to learn a lesson, or to see something new about yourself. If you’ve done it, to hold onto it would almost be a crime. You’re robbing yourself of so much more. And possibly robbing other people or places of the opportunity for new influences, new friendships, new experiences of their own.
So from my perspective, while saying goodbye to an old life, or an old way of life can be grievous, sad and reflective – instead I choose to honor those that led me to this place with a simple goodbye. Creating space both for them to have new experiences of their own, without me in them, but more importantly – so I can do so as well.
I look forward to whatever adventure waits for me when I get off that plane in San Francisco, 14 hours from now. I have no idea what it will look like, tho I know that it’ll look nothing like the past. And that, to me, is the gift. That’s the power of a goodbye. It creates space – and when there is space, there is endless possibility.

What’s the energy of luck? How does it show up in your life?
Some strokes of “luck” are small. You run into an old friend, who reminds you of another friend who you call and puts you in touch with someone hiring in your field. You read a poem that happened to be sitting on someone’s desk, and it changes your perspective forever. Only years later can you see how fundamentally that moment may have changed your life – is that luck?
Some strokes of luck are big and you know at the time they will change your life. You’re in the right place at the right time. You win the lottery. You meet your significant other in a crowded room at a more crowded party that you weren’t planning on attending anyways.
What we don’t know in the moment is HOW those things will change our lives. Lottery winners are seemingly no happier than before. Paraplegics can be no less happy.
We can lean on wanting or needing events and circumstances to “change our luck”, or to shift the energy of our lives… but is a change of “luck” what we really need?
There is a Buddhist story about a poor farmer whose one horse ran away. All his neighbors came to him in sympathy, saying “What bad luck!”
“Maybe,” he responded.
The next day the horse returned with several other wild horses. “What great luck!” his neighbors exclaimed.
“Maybe,” he responded.
A few days later the farmer’s son was trying to tame one of the wild horses when he was thrown off and broke his leg. “What terrible luck!” his neighbors said.
“Maybe,” he responded.
A week later the army came through the village to draft all the young men but seeing the broken leg of the farmer’s son, they left him in peace. “What wonderful luck!” the neighbors said.
“Maybe,” the farmer responded. And so it goes.
There’s something I’ve been reading and noticing in clients whose lives seem to be “falling apart.” Maybe they’ve lost their jobs, maybe they’ve gotten a divorce or broken up with a long time partner. They seem happier. Relieved, almost. Not everyone, but enough to notice a trend. In most cases, its the fear of losing a job or ending a marriage that is worse than the outcome of either of those events themselves. So what are you really afraid of?
From where I’m working as a psychic reader and healer, luck is just an energy. And you can shift your perception, or the reality, of luck in your space by changing the energy.
Shift the energy in your life. Change your own luck. How’s this year going so far? Are you feeling lucky?

When a psychic reading really works, the magic of the reading is not necessarily in finding the answer to the big problems of your life, tho those can definitely be an important part of the reading. To me, the magic is in giving the person I’m reading a hello at the soul level, which is something that we don’t get very often in our busy modern lives. It can be easy to feel disconnected from our spirit, to start to feel lost in our own lives. We can start to make decisions and begin acting out based on what everyone else sees in us and wants from us, who everyone else wants us to be.What’s it all about?
I recently saw a sign in the window of a shop (I wish I’d have taken a photo of it – I always forget that my iPhone has a built in camera!) that stated, simply: “What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it’s all about?”
I had a good chuckle, but it got me to thinking – what IS it really all about? As a psychic, I’m looking all the time at people growing, changing and fighting to have more of their life set at the vibration that feels good or right to them. I see the struggles first hand, experience the tears, feel the frustration of others on their path. It’s empowering, its magical, but yes – sometimes its daunting. Sometimes it gets to me, seeing all these folks fighting so valiantly to find their truth and create the life they desire.
So this past Tuesday, during my morning meditation, I set the tone of my day at “seeing” what its really all about. This messy thing we call life on this planet. Underneath all the struggles, the fear, the pain, the loneliness that we all share.
And you know what? I saw it. All around me. It was everywhere.
I’m not going to tell you what I found. It’s too good a secret, and I’m keeping it for myself. But what I will tell you is this: if you ask the universe to show you what it really is all about, and you open your eyes and allow yourself to see it – you will. It’s all around you. And it’s beautiful.

This morning I was included in the Lifelube.org blog, which is a really cool national advertising campaign talking about how gay men are healthy. I’m really proud to be part of this unique, groundbreaking campaign.

“As a professional psychic and energy healer, I get the opportunity each day to work with and see people making significant changes in their lives and growing towards health. It’s a pretty remarkable thing to be witness to.
It reminds me that our bodies, minds, and spirits – when given the space and permission – naturally grow towards health, much like a plant will grow towards the sun. It keeps me operating in my own life from a place of neutrality (without judgment) of myself and others. It reminds me that nothing is permanent in this world, not even the most beautiful things, and certainly not even what we or other people think about ourselves; everything can and will change, adjust and grow if you allow it room to do so.
I am healthy because I allow people the space and permission to grow and change, and in return, I get to do the same.
Evolution, as a body and as a spirit, is an amazing thing.

Read More...Back to the future
One of the cool things about being psychic and working with an energy awareness is that I get the opportunity to look at the energy of all sorts of things aside from the mundane, daily energies that everyone wants to look at in readings. One thing that I’ve spent quite a bit of time looking at in the last year is the future.
Now, I have to make a clarification here because while I tell my clients that I don’t tell the future, that doesn’t mean that I can’t read the future. And I do. Often. But things change in an instant – free will creates the opportunity for us to recreate our destinies every moment of our lives. But its still fun to look at the possibilities.
So what do I see for the future? Well, I’m optimistic, that’s for sure. The lies that we’ve been living in are all coming (quickly) to the surface – on a societal and global scale. The inequities of our old ways of working are becoming more and more clear, and action is coming to manifest change. Humanity seems to be shifting towards a higher vibration of energy, one where synchronicities can occur more fluently, where manifestations are faster, where people are aware on a new level.
I was listening to a podcast yesterday talking about the 2012 phenomenon. The guest on the show was talking about how she saw us moving back towards a more agrarian life, one where people would grow their own food and live on and in closer harmony with the land. While that sounds somewhat romantic, I don’t really see that happening. To be honest, its not really a future that sounds appealing to me. If I had to spend half my time growing my own food, I wouldn’t get to do all the things in my life that allow me to give back to the planet and to people in my own unique way. Plus, I don’t have a lot of desire to be a property owner, so if I don’t have land to tend – then what, I don’t get to eat?
What I do see is a global shift in our values, in our awareness, in our consciousness. A recognition that we are like neutrons circling our planet, and that our planet is but one atom in the cosmos. A shared perspective and understanding that the differences we see between us are much smaller than the shared experience of being a human being on this planet at this time. This shift has already started. Look around you. Where is your perspective changing?

A frog visits his local Psychic and during the reading is told, “You are going to meet a beautiful young girl who will want to know everything about you.”
The frog says, “This is great! Will I meet her at a party, or what?”
“No,” says the psychic. “Next semester in her biology class.”
Read More...Chains of Love
Recently I gave a reading to man who was just absolutely amazing. Capable, strong, confident, attractive. The picture that I saw in his emotional and relationship space was like a Disney film – green meadow, witty talking chipmunks, the whole nine yards. It was the energy of – “everything’s great. everything’s fine. everything’s perfect.”
As a psychic, when I see a picture that seems “perfect” I get suspicious – because life isn’t perfect. It’s messy, it changes, it grows. Besides, perfection is boring and stale.
So I looked behind it and there this man was, behind this perfect picture, and he was in a midevil jail cell, chained to the wall, knees drawn up to his chest. He was wearing rags and crying; he was a prisoner. He was being punished.
But when I looked around, there was no jailor. There was nobody punishing him. In fact, the brace he wore on his ankle was not even connected to the wall! He had, in some ways, made himself a prisoner in his own space.
So often, when we get wounded or hurt, we punish ourselves as if we’ve done something horribly wrong, or that we don’t deserve to have more. Sometimes its because we couldn’t have the “perfect picture” of what we wanted; so we feel like a failure. Sometimes we’re literally in a punishing situation or relationship because that’s what we’ve been programmed to accept, to want.
None of that is ever your energy.
When I showed this man that he could leave the jail at any time; that he could have his freedom to stop punishing himself, to stop being a prisoner in this space, his spirit was completely shocked. It was as if nobody had ever shown him that he didn’t have to suffer, that he could have so much more.
Where are you making yourself a prisoner? Is it in your love space? Your work space? Your spirituality?
The universe is such a huge place, filled with excitement, danger, love, success and failure. It’s our classroom to learn what we can while we’re here. Isn’t it time you left the jail cell you’ve been keeping yourself in and have more?
Read More...Vulnerability
In order to live in your truth, to really have the thing that you’re looking to have or to be the person that you truly wish to be, you have to operate with quite a bit of vulnerability. That can be really terrifying, because we spend so much of our lives “shoring up”, or putting our game face on.
I find that when people open themselves up, become vulnerable to rejection or failure, allow another person to really see who they are, what they are, what they desire – that’s when the greatest gifts appear. It’s when they are allowed to call in the most amazing things.
Where is it that you aren’t allowing yourself to be vulnerable? Perhaps that’s where you need to take a step. Is the truth in the vulnerability or is the vulnerability in the truth? What does vulnerability look like for you? Were you wounded at some point in your life, making it seem wrong to allow someone else to see your truth?
Part of the magic of a clairvoyant reading is being vulnerable to the reader. To allow yourself to be seen, without guard, without your game face. And in that – to really see yourself.

Things are a-foot and change is coming. These days, because I’m so open to it, my life changes pretty drastically and on a pretty regular basis.
I’ve recently updated my website, and I’m looking for a matching skin for my blog. So change is coming to the blog. The podcast has a new weekly schedule, I’m offering readings this weekend for half price.
I’ve included information on my website about my new services as a celebrant. I’m so excited about this.
Hope everything is well with you, dear readers. And I hope you’re getting as much change as you’d like to have in your lives.
Read More...Trust
Trust is a big deal, especially during times of extreme change or growth. We want to put our trust in all sorts of other things as a way of feeling safe… for instance, we can put the energy of our trust in god, in hopes that everything is going to turn out all right. we can put our trust in our job or our bosses, that they will watch out for us in the workplace, and that we’ll keep our jobs. We trust that our friends will always be there for us, as a shoulder to cry on, or to provide a much needed laugh. We can trust that our investments – wether they be financial, emotional, or spiritual – will pay off in the ways we’d like them to in the end.
The place that we have a hard time putting our trust is in ourselves. There’s a perception that because we’re so “in” our own lives, that we can’t be onjective enough to know what’s best, or what to do next. We can fall into the trap of putting our trust outside of ourselves in order to feel safe.
When I first got my driver’s license, I took my old Ford Escort (Natalie was her name, great car!) to my High School parking lot when it was covered with snow and ice. I gunned it and lost control of the car in a skid. I turned into the skid and instantly gained control of my car. Telling someone to turn into a skid, that’s crazy talk. It seems so wrong, but it works. That takes trust to do.
Perhaps when you’re most unsure of what’s going on in your life, when things seem completely out of control and like everything is falling apart ala a house of cards – perhaps that’s when you need to turn into the skid. Do the thing that doesn’t make any sense. Not only will you learn the value of trusting yourself – there’s something magical about defying the odds and gaining control of your car. It’s exhilarating and makes you feel like you can do anything. And you can.

This past week I taught a meditation workshop all about the energy of communication, particularly with people who do a lot of work online, including bloggers, journalists, twitterers, etc. It was a small, intimate group, and an amazing experience. We really cleared some major energy. It was awesome to watch the group of participants really discover their truth, gather up the energy they had expended on projects over the years, and bring in new influence to create inspiration in their lives.
One of the participants, a good friend from college and principal at Natiiv Media, Leah Jones
, wrote a really thoughtful and flattering review of the event on her website. I wanted to share it with my blog readers because I think it illustrates the enthusiasm that people feel after my workshops. You may have read books on meditation, you may have tried it at home on your own, you may have even listened to guided meditation cd’s, recordings and podcasts – but trust me, you’ve never experienced anything like one of my group meditation workshops. It’s truly magical.
It’s taken me a long time to say that, but I believe it to be true. Here’s an excerpt of Leah’s post:
“During the 3 guided meditations we learned how to ground ourselves, how to stay open during the meditation and then we started working on clearing the old energy. Much of what happened was deeply personal, so I’m not going to go into the details of the work, but I will say that Billy did an amazing job leading the workshop, teaching us new skills and keeping the space safe.
I learned a lot and felt different the next day. A few lingering relationships were cleared up and I finally felt like I was “over” it. I felt lighter, refreshed and slept like the dead that night.”

Read More...My dad taught me to play chess.
When I was young, I was obsessed with games. Pretty much any game that I’d come across, I would be really into for a while. This might explain the fact that in adulthood, I am pretty much not into playing games, even at parties.
But when I was like 7 or 8 years old, I was the game master.
It was around this time that my dad introduced me to this game called Chess. It was complicated. It had lots of strange rules. Old men played chess. I was *not* interested.
I wanted to play Monopoly (I think it had something to do with all the cash), I wanted to play LIFE. I played “Mall Madness” with my sister and her friends (remember that?). But I emphatically did not want to learn how to play chess. It seemed boring. Your opponent could take 15 minutes to make a move. Everything was weighed, considered and thought thru. I wanted more instant gratification to my game playing.
Couple this with the fact that my Dad and I didn’t have a lot in common when I was a kid. He is a tradesman, very blue collar and I was, well, different – as you can imagine. I was into creative things; art, theater, singing, nintendo, nintendo and nintendo. We didn’t have a lot of common ground. And here he was, trying to teach me this boring, old man’s game that none of my friends new how to play?
My Dad didn’t give up, however, and eventually I learned Chess. Once I understood the rules, and once I got over my need to do everything as fast as the nintendo – I became obsessed. I couldn’t get enough. I taught my friends to play (tho, not too well – so I could beat them.) They were totally impressed that I knew how to play this strange foreign game. I played my dad. I played my uncles at our family gatherings. I’d play chess with pretty much anyone I came across. I was a chess player.
Once in a while we’re put in a situation, or asked to learn a skill that seems tedious. It seems out of context, unimportant. It’s not as exciting as monopoly. Its not as fast paced as Sonic the Hedgehog on our best friend’s Sega. In this moment we have two options – we can resist it, instead focusing our attention where it’s always been, and casting it aside as worthless. Or, we can own up, go into it with both feet and just learn it. Or just do it, taking the little lesson into our life in whatever way it fits.
Eventually, I grew out of my game phase. Even Nintendo lost it’s luster. (Altho, I’m currently considering buying a Wii!)
A couple of years ago, I was on a plane coming home from Canada. I had been in Halifax and it was a long flight; at this point it was probably about 1am. A businessman, probably in his 50′s, was sitting across the isle from me on the nearly empty plane. we struck up conversation and he asked me if I’d like to play one of those travel edition chess sets with him. Enthusiastically, I said yes. He seemed surprised that I knew how to play (and that I was pretty decent.) He asked where I’d learned to play.
“My dad taught me.” I told him. He smiled. I imagine that he had taught his son to play, too. And for a moment, he imagined his son making a casual bond with a stranger over chess. And it made him proud. It made me proud too. Everything that I thought was important when I was 7 or 8 seems so distant. But Chess – the thing that I thought was so silly, so unimportant – well, Chess is here to stay.
Whenever I think of Chess, I think of my dad. We don’t have much in common, as far as people go. But he’s my dad, and he taught me how to play chess. Here I am, 20 years later, thankful that I took the time to learn.

“There’s only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.” – Aldous Huxley
I have a very radical belief. I believe whole-heartedly that all healing, in every form, is self-healing. You do not have the power to heal anyone or anything else except yourself.
Now, that’s not to say that one shouldn’t help others, or be giving. But one of the best gifts we can give to each other and the planet is to live in our absolute truth, to do the things we love to do and be the person we long to be.
Yesterday, I passed a guy on the street who was selling those monthly subscriptions to Greenpeace. I shouldn’t say passed on the street, I should say I was energetically assaulted. It’s not his fault; he’s paid on commission, and I look like the kind of indie-hipster-sensitive type who would sign up for something like that. So he blocked the sidewalk and asked me if I wanted to sign up. I politely told him that I wasn’t interested. He insisted: “But the earth needs your help!”
That got me to thinking – does it? Haven’t we been “helping” the earth enough? It seemed to do just fine for a couple of billions of years before we arrived; what could the earth possibly need from me to be ok? Sure, I could eat less tuna. Sure, I could burn less fossil fuels. Sure, I can do my part. So I started to think about what I do to help the earth.
I consume far less than almost anyone that I know… I live out of a suitcase, only have enough clothes for about a week’s worth of wearing. I don’t own or rent a home, I stay with friends and barter for the roof over my head. And what’s more, I’ve shunned my corporate life and marketing background to give psychic readings and healings professionally, dedicating my life to helping other people clear energy out of their life, allowing them to live the life they dream of and want to have. I am a healer and reader. And you know what? I’m happier than I’ve ever been.
When I give someone a reading or an energy healing, I’m not forcing or even encouraging them to change or heal. What I’m actually doing is working with a neutral, universal energy that is in abundance all around us. I’m harnessing this vibration and directing it wherever I sense there are blocks and I’m inviting the client to release whatever it is that they are ready to let go off – old relationships, old energetic habits, old grief, pain, judgement. Whatever they are ready to release. In a way, what I’m doing is giving that person permission to heal themselves. It’s that simple. And it works…. amazingly well.
Perhaps, instead of funneling our money and time into charity after charity, we could focus our energy on healing ourselves, and living more presently in our truth. If 100,000 people did that today, I believe that we would be giving the earth permission to heal itself – and it would.
Now, before I draw the ire of everyone who works for a nonprofit or charity (and I can speak on authority – I did for 4 years myself), I just want to say that what I’m proposing is the same thing that I tell people who tell me to “pray for change” – if praying was enough, wouldn’t it have worked already? If donating a couple hundred thousand dollars to save the whales was enough, wouldn’t they have been saved? For all the commerce we throw at charitable causes – every cause seems to be getting worse and worse. There has to be another way. Perhaps that way is for us all to turn that healing energy inward – and healing our bodies and souls until each one of us are happy, content and living on our path. Maybe then we’ll stop doing so much harm to the things around us.
So, Mister Greenpeace, while I don’t judge, and I appreciate your concern for the earth, I think it’s doing alright without me. And while it might be hard to see on the surface – I’m doing my part. Are you?
Read More...Suburban Energy

Yesterday, my roomate Emily and I drove out to IKEA in Schaumburg, IL and spent the day shopping like maniacs. The amount of energy we handled was simply staggering! I hadn’t been to a mall or a place like that in ages, and I had forgotten all the attention and energy that gets stimulated when you’re in that kind of a space.
What was kind of fun to “see” and experiment with was the energy of different stores, different kinds of marketing and the experience that the body goes thru in each one. For instance, Emily and I both got so overwhelmed at IKEA because they try to get you to buy into entire rooms, rather than simple items. We were only looking for a few small pieces, but we both felt like if we didn’t spend a ton of money, there was really no point. It was also interesting to note how difficult IKEA makes it to purchase anything; you have to write down the name of an item, find a sales rep, have them deliver it to your car. Not exactly easy – the really make you work! But it seems to be working – the extra effort makes people feel like they are getting a more valuable item than what they are actually getting. (In my opinion.)
After that we zipped over to Woodfield mall, where we stopped in some familiar store noteably - Urban Outfitters and The Buckle. These two stores really cater to the same demographic, but ultimately take a very different approach. Urban has this “hipster-I-could-care-less-if-you-but-anything” vibe, which of course, makes you want to buy everything to prove that you belong in there. The Buckle is interesting because I remember when they were a second-rate American Eagle cast off back in the mid-nineties. The store has really revolutionized their energy by selling upscale denim and shirts/hoodies with that very popular “grunge” design all over them. It was interesting to see our perception of the store change as we shopped from what we “knewit as” to what it has become.
In both cases, it was interesting to watch the salespeople try to “read” us and sell us what they thought we wanted. Almost the entire time, they were way off base! For instance, on our way out of the mall, we stopped at a perfume vendor on one of those carts in the middle of the mall. I walked up and told the guy I wanted to buy a bottle of “A-men”, which is my favorite cologne. It also happens to be one of the most expensive bottles he was selling. He tried to talk me into
buying three bottles of cologne that were on sale for 50% off – and I ended up walking away buying nothing! He would have had a sale if he had read me right – a guy who knew exactly what I wanted and was ready to pay for it.

We topped off our day with lunch/dinner stopping to eat at The Cheesecake Factory – where there was a 45 minute wait, which seemed extreme. So we walked across the hall to Ruby Tuesdays – were there was no wait and truly friendly service! It ended up being great.

Last night I had so much fun (as usual) reading and healing at the Life Force Arts Center’s psychic fair. I got to work with some really interesting people making big changes in their life, which is my passion. There was also a lot of interest in my April 4 & 5 Meditation Fundamentals immersive weekend. So I look forward to seeing a lot of those people there!
Earlier this week I went out for sushi, pool playing and dancing with my roommate Emily. We had so much fun! Yes, even psychics like to get out and cut loose a little bit.

All about love.
This past weekend I had the good fortune to do readings at a wedding reception. I know, I know what you’re thinking (I *am* psychic, afterall) – what an interesting idea! It was definitely unorthodox and it took a while for the attendees of the party to warm up to the idea of getting a 10 minute clairvoyant reading during the reception. But once they did, everyone wanted it!
What was most interesting to me in reading the folks that I got the opportunity to see was that it was ALL about love. Not a single person really asked about the economy, about money, etc. Looking at the energy of the room, it was set at permission to make it all about the energy of love. When people have permission to not worry about surviving, we naturally gravitate towards love. Its our nature. Who we love, what we love, etc. It was very cool to experience that with such an amazing group of people!
It really got me thinking about how we are all happiest when we’re doing what we love in all the areas of our lives. The work we love. The relationships we love. The creativity we love. When your energy is set at being able to have love in all ways – you are unstoppable! People gravitate towards you because you’re so happy. Things just happen like magic when you’re operating from love.
After that, I ran over to the Hotel Sax where I was a featured guest on Sleepover 2.0. I got the opportunity to talk on their all-nite vidcast about psychic energy work, what I do and how I read. I even did some mini readings right on the air! It was a lot of fun, and the ladies were all good sports. It was so flattering to participate!
This Friday I’m reading at the Life Force Arts Center’s psychic fair from 6pm-10pm. Come on out and get a mini-reading or energy healing for $1/minute. Email me for details!
Read More...So how do you read?
While the gift of being psychic is indeed that, a gift, my background also includes some intensive training that has helped me to hone and sharpen my skills so that I can give a truly professional, and “clean” reading. This is beneficial to my clients in many ways, first of which is that I don’t come into our session with a lot of pre-judgements or opinions about what I see. I read from a truly neutral space. What this means to my clients is that they wont often find me giving “advice”, or telling them what they should do in the future. It’s my belief that we each exercise free will while experiencing life on this planet, and to impose what I think another person “should do” thru advice during a reading seems completely unnecessary to me. What I do see is the true energy of a thing; whether that’s a relationship or a job, or whatever. It is up to you, the receiver of this information, to chose what to do with it.
The other reason that I work with some specific energetic tools to create a clean reading space is so that I don’t end up carrying around the energy of our reading with me all day. It also helps us to create separations after the session, so that you’re free to really own the information that was provided and do with it what you choose. It’s funny, often times when I’m reading someone and I see a very specific picture, it really means absolutely nothing to me – but it is often chock full of meaning for the client.
At the beginning of our session I’ll ask you for your full birth name. The original given name of a person contains all the information about your energy encoded in it. And yes, it is still true if you were adopted. I was adopted and I still consider my adoptive name my given name.
In order to create a clean reading space for us to work together, I have to meditate for about 45-60 minutes before our session. During that time, I’m looking at the energy of our upcoming reading, but also at energy that might be getting in the way of us having a truthful connection. I work with my guides and some tools to clear out any of that energy so that you can really get a hello to your spirit on the deepest level. It is intense work.
After our reading, I do another 20-30 minutes of cleaning out so that I can move on to my next appointment and start that reading from that same neutral space. This is why I only do sessions by appointment, not by call in or on the spot. I could do that, but it’s actually more difficult to hone in on your unique energy and not read all the other stuff that’s collected up in your space.
Working psychically is definitely a spiritual gift. I do it because I love the opportunity to provide information and answers, as well as share this gift with other people so they can find clarity and connect to the deeper part of themselves that craves growth, learning, and new experiences. I also do this for my living, and like anyone else that you would hire to assist or consult your life, it’s important to honor the value of the service being provided.
Working with a psychic reader or healer can open up doors you have thought long shut, and it can be an enriching, rewarding experience. Research lots before you choose a reader. Sample a few before committing to one. If its not working out, or you feel suspicious about what that person is telling you, find a new provider. Your instincts are always right. Trust yourself.
Read More...Addicted To Becoming
Lately, working with clients and in talking with friends, I’ve noticed how much energy there is on and around becoming. Becoming a better person, a better friend, a better lover. A better worker. A better listener. Better to oneself. With so much of our life force wrapped up into this constant state of becoming, its a no wonder it’s hard to simply BE. After all, we are human BEINGS, not human becomings!
Imagine for a moment that you are exactly where you are supposed to be. That the current struggle in your life, be in financial, career-oriented, family related or internal is exactly the struggle that you are supposed to be in. That you are growing and changing as a being in exactly the way you created when you came into this life. That whatever the “thing” is for you right now, it’s exactly right.
Imagine for a moment that on a spiritual level, you already are all those things. That within you, you have the information and capacity to be those things at any given moment. The challenge is to integrate it into a life – this life. Of course, this involves other people, which is where all the energy is. How do they respond? How do they expect you to respond?
So often I see people holding back on their dreams, waiting for something to happen that will finally allow them to act out their destiny. It doesn’t really work that way. We are the masters of our own destiny, thru free will. It’s all too easy to get addicted to “Becoming” and to never “BE”. We obsess about one more seminar, one more class that we percieve will make us “whole”… and therein lies the crux. We will never actually be whole until we find that wholeness within. Being human is about being, not doing or becoming.
So next time you think about what you need to do to become who you want to be, consider that you may already be it. You just need to give yourself permission to bring that energy into your life. It’s a game changer.

Momentum is definitely building around my upcoming communication workshop. I’m excited to be getting responses from some really great bloggers, writers and social media folks.
We’re going to be working the energy around communication in all ways, but focusing mostly on cyber-communication and virtual energy. As our world becomes more and more “virtual”, tons of our energy is left behind in blog posts, instant message communication, email, blog comments, twitting (for those who twit) and other forms of online communication.
Just like any area of your life, you can gather up this “left behind” energy and redirect it towards creating something new in your life, whether its a new publishing project, new connections in your social media space, or even just getting back some of that energy so you can use it for things in your “real” life!
How much of your identity is tied up in your online personas and entities? Each one has a particular energy to it, which is created by the energy you put into it, and also the energy that other people receive it as. Other people’s perceptions or judgements of your online personas can create blocks in the way your communication through those entities are received. We’ll work specific energetic tools to gather up your energy from old screen names, avatars and email addresses, and then bring them into present time. Are there things you’re looking to finally let go of? Are there things you’re wishing to create?
This workshop is appropriate for anyone who works in the “cyber” world, but is particularly geared towards bloggers, social media connectors, and journalists. Anyone can participate.
The cost of the workshop is $50, tho I am offering this workshop free to highly visible bloggers and online folks who are willing to make an agreement with me that they will write about and share their experience with their online (and in person!) audiences. Please contact me for details.

I have decided that my spring action statement is to “Challenge perceptions and expectations of what it is to be psychic and to work with energy.” It’s really my goal to make psychic energy work something less “new-agey” (we’ve all seen THOSE websites) and for the people just outside the mainstream and to bring it to people who want to incorporate a hightened awareness of reality and consciousness in their daily lives.
It’s pretty exciting to be at the forefront of such a strong and timely movement in human history. As science and physics unlock the secrets of the cosmos and of the quantum, it’s moving closer towards the ancient wisdom that has been encoded inside of humanity since time began. It’s bringing us closer to a stronger understanding of who we are, where we are, and how we are.
Connecting to this deeper part of yourself, wether by meditation, getting a clairvoyant aura or past life reading, or simply by focusing on your intentions and your engagement with present time, you are becoming part of the movement that will change the face of our world and our place on/with it.
Being psychic is not about predicting the future, or about winning the lottery. It’s about a deeper awareness and the ability to see and sense the truth behind the chatter of the mind and of the energy that is present in our lives and in the world. It’s about facilitating a connection to their higher self and the higher purpose that is inside each one of us.
At its heart, truly being psychic is being a link to humanity’s ancient shamanic past, where ritual, cleansing, change, and growth were at the core of the human experience.
What is your action statement for this year? What are you doing on your path to achieving it? What are your blocks?I’m excited for the year ahead, and everything that I will get to see, experience, and do. Are you?
### UPDATE 1:49pm
And right on the heels of my post, this CNN.COM article that discusses the potential of hundreds of earth-like planets in our galaxy. Could you imagine how our perspectives would shift if we shifted to be a planetary culture rather than continental ones? It would change everything!

Read More...Why Meditation?
Meditation is an amazing tool that allows you to receive deeper wisdom from within, and insight into your personal truth. The style of meditation that I practice and teach is not about looking to the group mind, or the infinite to find your answers – it is all about looking deeper within yourself to get in touch with who you truly are. It is about repairing the permissions to live the life you dream of. It is all about having more of your unique energy in every moment of your day, in your relationships, and in the things you create. It is not about ridding or destroying the ego, it is about finding who you really are, and being it!
The great thing about meditation is that our philosophical or religious beliefs are not important. Meditation is process of moving past the structures of our current reality in a very neutral, affirming way. The mental habits of the mind become increasingly transparent and their power over us diminishes. We can use meditation to dive deep into our own hearts to gain access to our spirit – our unique truth. Therefore, mediation can (and is ) practiced by people of different religions or no religion.
Many people like the idea of meditation, but feel they don’t have enough time, or that they don’t quite know how to start. You sit and close your eyes – and then what? While meditation does requires an investment of time, making this time and clearing energy can make the the rest of the day more productive. Nothing is more important than the relationship with you have with yourself, and the act of meditation is like a date with you. Most of our energy is spent running around chasing our lives and our relationship with ourselves (and subsequently others) becomes superficial. What is the point in being tremendously busy but unable to enjoy it and unhappy?
Meditation is not about retreating from the world; it is a journey of self exploration and discovery. It’s about clearing energy and creating space for the things you ultimately want to have. To create the life you dream of. It can help to work in a group setting, to learn specific tools and concepts that can assist you in creating and building your own medtitation practice. The style of meditation I work with is very active, using specific tools to work with and clear energy.
Unfortunately, our mind is often addicted to complication and drama and it takes time to really get inside your truth. Often the beginners experience of meditation is full of the chatter of the mind, which is really everybody else’s energy caught in your space, everything and everyone that wants and craves your attention and consideration. This can be very uncomfortable. We habitually identify this chatter, this foreign energy, as ‘who’ we are. Confronting this ‘who’ we are when we sit for meditation can be an unpleasant shock. Discovering your personal truth behind this energy is the reward and the path of meditation. It can provide you with a sense of clarity and purpose that may have been missing. With time, practicing meditation will reveal that you are not your thoughts, and it will open you up to the sense of magic and wonder that is beyond everyday appearance and form.
Anyone can reap these spiritual benefits of meditation, which include greater self-awareness and understanding, a deepening sense of being present in the here and now. From self awareness develops self acceptance and in time, compassion. A deeper sense of intimacy with yourself allows deeper relationships with others.
My next group meditation workshops are:
Communication Energy Workshop
Thursday, March 25th, 6:30-9pm
Flourish Studios, 3020 N. Lincoln Ave, Chicago
Cost: $50, or free for highly visible bloggers, journalists and social media users.*
There is so much demand for each of us to be “in communication” with the world these days – via email, cell phone, smart phone, twitter, blogs, facebook and all this “virtual life.”
With each profile, avatar, screen name, email address, we expend a bit of our unique life force to create it. With each dating profile, we put a little bit of our energy on it, in hopes of attracting the right person. With each communication we send out, we expend just a little bit of “who we are” as we hope the communication “goes through.”
In this workshop, we’ll work with meditation as a tool to gather up all the energy you’ve sent out, and then renew and replenish communication space. We’ll clear out the old, and work on manifesting new projects, new connections, and new communication.
This workshop is ideal for journalists, bloggers, social media types and writers. Also people in PR, Media, Advertising and other communication related industries. Heck even people who date online!
Cost: $50*
Space is limited to 15; please sign up in advance.
*If you are a highly visible blogger, journalist or other social-media type, you qualify for free admission to this event if you agree to blog or write about your experience. Contact me for details.

Talking about yourself.
As a small business owner and a freelancer, I have to talk about myself a lot. All these social media tools – Facebook, Twitter, this blog – rely on you to leverage who you are, what you know, what you’re interested in – to attract attention, attract interest and ultimately to attract clients. It’s awfully tiresome.
This week I’ve given three aura readings, produced my spring newsletter, put together a design proposal for a freelance client’s re-branding, did some project work for a software development company that I work for on occasion, did some public policy work with a local chamber of commerce, attended a couple of “twit-ups”, watched a lot of Frasier and spent almost every waking minute talking about – myself. The things I’m into. The things I like.
I bring this up because when you spend this much time talking about yourself, you have to really know who that is. That’s a pretty big deal – especially when you’re working in a realm of spirituality that few people allow themselves to truly access. It takes guts, and it takes a certain amount of fearlessness. I don’t necessarily claim to have this part down; I’m still learning. For instance, just yesterday I was getting out of the shower on my way to a client to give a reading, and I started to freak out a little bit. What the hell was I doing? Who the hell am I to be claiming to be giving psychic readings? What if she laughed at me? What if I screwed it all up? Yep, even psychics deal with the energy of imminent failure.
Living your truth is the most powerful thing you can do to live the life you want. A lot of times, my clients don’t feel like they know what their truth is. That’s just other energy getting in the way. Last night, when I was doubting myself and my gift, I chose to walk through it and went to the reading. I set up the way I usually do, and when it was time to do the reading, I just went for it. It’s my truth. I’ve spent very disciplined years getting in touch with my truth, and I had to “just do it”. You might say – in the face of all that doubt, even though I couldn’t *feel* my truth, I knew it was there somewhere. In a way, I faked it.
The woman I read was amazing. A gifted healer herself, she had an amazing capacity to work from her “knowingness” (meaning, her intuition or ability to know) but where her energy was stuck was in bringing this “knowing” into the vision she had for her life. I saw this as represented by a gray film separating the 7th layer (ability to know your truth) and the 6th layer (ability to have vision for your life) of her aura. Where she was working, as a spirit, was on bringing the infinite and limitless knowledge that she had accumulated over many lives into present time, into this lifetime. We looked a little deeper at this gray film, and within it there was a picture of very personal grief that was keeping some of her life force trapped in a loop. By clearing the grief, and healing her pain in this picture, she will now be able to bring some of that amazing, capable knowing down into her physical life and affect the changes she’s looking to make. The client was moved to tears, as was I.
Often times, as a psychic, I am engaged in the energy of a reading hours or days before it actually occurs. This woman’s struggle – that of bringing her knowing into the vision for her life, was similar to the energy I was handling just before the reading while I was in the shower. It’s such a gift to see these struggles, this invalidation as simply energy; it can be shifted, re-created and forgiven. It can be moved out of the way.
The reading was a great success, and of course afterwards I thought it silly that I had ever doubted myself or the gift. However, it did highlight to me how fortunate I am to truly know myself (and let me tell you – 5 years ago, I had NO idea who I was!) and to be able to share my gift in a way that helps people better understand themselves.
Want to know more about who YOU are in spirit? Have a good idea, but just want confirmation? Book a reading.
Read More...Sunday mornings
I love Sunday mornings. They are absolutely my favorite time of the week. To me, Sundays are best spent with football on the tv (even tho I don’t really watch it, the sounds of foorball just scream Sunday morning, don’t they?) brunch, the newspaper and blogging on the couch.
This week I’m housesitting for my friend’s Leah and Jason in Lakeview; it’s nice to be back in the ‘hood. I’ve been staying in Bucktown with my friend Emily, and while I love it over there, nothing feels quite the same as Lakeview, which is where I’ve lived most of my time in Chicago.
Yesterday was a crazy busy day for me; in the morning I gave a reading to Byl, and I think he had a really great experience. I don’t know that he expected the reading to be about deep, personal stuff. I love how it can catch people off guard that way. Generally, when I start a reading, I ask if people have ever had one before. They often answer with, “well, I’ve had my palm read a time or two…” and I’m like, “this is going to be very different.” and it is.
After that, I skidattled over to the Life Force Arts Center, where I participated in their Valentine’s Psychic Fair. It was the first time I’d participated in a multi-reader event like that. The set-up was pretty great; I bought a table for a set fee and then the readees paid me directly. I charged $1 a minute, in blocks of 20, 30 or 60. There were 6 readers all together, everyone practicing different reading and healing modalities. It was interesting to talk to the other readers and see where they are working from. Everyone was really nice and it was a pleasure to share space with each one of them.
The afternoon got off to a slow start, but by 3 o’clock I had a waiting list. I read from 3-7pm solid, which was amazing, but exhausting. I’ve done three readings in one day before, but never that many people in such short blocks. By far, most people purchased a 20 minute reading, tho I did a few 30 minutes. I was so thrilled that people chose me for their readings. Lots of people commented that they just got a “good vibe” from my name and how I described my readings on the form in the lobby. One woman even said that she picked me because I had “rock-star hair.”
The experience of the fair really made me appreciate the gift that I have to “see” people’s true spirits – I read a woman struggling with some serious abuse issues, a young woman with cerebal palsy looking for love, a father worried to death about his college aged children, an artist who works in every modality possible, and another woman just ending a marriage. Each of these people needed urgent communication about the energies in their life, and the messages that spirit had for them. It is a gift to be the messenger of these messages.
After that, I needed to blow off some steam! I met up with my friend Sean for a beer, and then we went to Sidetrack. After that, I rolled in to go dancing at my favorite chicago club, Berlin. It’s dark and seedy and oh so much fun. Even psychics need to blow off some steam, and yes, even psychics need a drink now and then.
Today: watching movies on Leah & Jason’s ridiculously large HDTV, having dinner on the couch with this guy I’ve been seeing a little bit of, and sllllllleeeeeeping. Sounds like a Sunday morning to me.
Read More...Success!
Human Beings have mastered – and I mean *mastered* the art of failure. We know how to handle the energy of failure, how to be failures, how to anticipate failure. We are, in some ways, programmed to accept failure as the status quo. In a way, nobody needs to help you to understand or move through failure. You’ve got it down. Your whole life timeline might be a construct of points of failure. That might be the way you see yourself.
But what happens when we succeed? There are few templates for what to do when things *actually* work. Often times, even when success does come our way, we focus on the negative, or on imagined failures contained within the success, simply as a way to avoid handling the energy of success in our lives. Will other people be jealous? Will they judge us? Will they expect more of us? Will they want us to share our success with them in ways that we aren’t willing to? It can seem like if we are a success, we will be an insult to those around us. We will be different than our family, our friends. That can be scary.
With all these considerations, doesn’t it seem like it might be easier to just fail?
Yesterday, I taught a meditation workshop that was a huge milestone for me. It was the first time I rented a space all on my own, marketed the workshop, taught it. Two and a half hours of nothing but me, talking to a group of people in a room about meditation, energy work and spirituality. You know what? I succeeded. I accomplished my goals, everyone got information and was able to really take a step forward towards living the life they want to live. I think we had a little fun too. I spoke clearly, answered questions thoroughly. My guided meditations were right on target, and everyone had a good time.
Sure, there were things I could have done better, and afterwards, while talking to a friend of mine about the workshop, I naturally wanted to focus on those things. Next time I would do this. Next time, I would do that.
But I forced myself to stop and realize that by being in present-time, the here and now, (and not focusing on the next mountain to climb too soon) if I looked out from the peak I was standing on – that the vista was amazing. I had accomplished something that other people would be terrified of. I had taken a step on my path as a teacher, as a reader, as a psychic, and I was a success. Would i have made it this far if I hadn’t forged my own way, bucking other people’s advice, taking fewer chances and considering the well being of everyone else around me?
Clearing everyone else’s energy off of the things we want to achieve can have startling implications on your life. When you stop considering what effect success will have on those around you, it can make it all the easier for you to have your dreams in reality. Truly, the only thing stopping you from manifesting all the things you want to have or achieve is energy – yours or someone else’s. Do you know where you’re blocked?
Thank you to everyone who participated in the workshop to help me get to this peak. The view from here is amazing, and the future looks so bright – I might have to buy some shades!
Read More...Endings
When things end, we freak out. Our physical form, our bodies, don’t really like change all that much – particularly if we’ve grown used to feeling safe through a person or relationship, job or home, or group of people. Change can be exhilarating and terrifying at the same time, which is a very confusing energy for our bodies to handle. We can be confused, not really knowing our truth, not sure if we’re making the right decisions, not sure where we’re headed.
In my life, I’ve noticed that I have a tendency to stay in situations too long after it’s time to change simply because the feeling of safety I have in what’s known, rather than what’s unknown. I have stayed in relationships long after they’ve run their course, stayed committed to roommates and living situations that were simply awful because the devil that I’ve known appeared more “doable” than the devil I didn’t. I have long outstayed my welcome at jobs that were no longer a good fit – much to my own unhappiness and my boss’ frustration.
Most of the time, our spirits are in dissonance with this – our spirit craves change, new experience and the next big thing. But we don’t know how to negotiate this with our physical need for safety – a paycheck, a comfortable home, relationships we can count on. Often times when we try to create change in the spirit of things, energies in our aura or our bodies create barriers to change – and since we’re so focused on the things we want to have – we are unconscious to the energy that is between us and our dream or goal. It’s easy to feel like we’re doing something wrong, that we’re a failure. That we can’t have the things we want. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Your spirit would never want to climb a mountain it knew you couldn’t handle!
One way to move through this energy is to get an aura reading. It can provide clarity and help move out some of the energies that are in your way – especially the things that you might be unconscious of. Another way is an energy healing. As a healer, I work with a neutral energy that helps create space for your spirit to release old or in the way energies that might be blocking you. Healings and Readings can be intensely spiritual experiences where you see yourself clearly for the first time – and you will always like what you see. Your own energy and spirit will never feel wrong or painful.
A third way is thru meditation. Meditation is the path inward, a chance for you to look at the energies present in your life for yourself. Meditation can be difficult for a beginner (and even the experienced!) so it helps to work in a group setting, where you can be guided and supported by like minded people. I will be offering several meditation workshops this year, so if you’re interested get on my mailing list. The idea of the meditations that I lead are not to wisk you away to some serene, relaxing place – but to bring you more fully into the present moment, so you can experience the magic and wonder that is your life.
Whatever the future holds for you, change is coming. Your spirit craves it, and is asking for it. Will you help your body feels safe and present while the changes are occuring, so you can truly experience the magic that life holds? Or will you remain unconscious or unchanging, stuck in the same old patterns – merely so you can feel a false sense of security? Will you resist the change that your spirit craves?
The choice, ultimately is yours to make.
Read More...Gratitude
It has been said that gratitude and grief carry the same emotional, or energetic vibration. The last couple of days, I’ve been looking at gratitude in several ways and thought I would share one of the pictures I’ve encountered in my own life.
Just last week, I reconnected to an old friend via Facebook, and it was so exciting to see him on there. Facebook is a really amazing way to connect to people – you get snippets of their life through their updates and postings. I love it. He now is married and has a beautiful child, and it was nice to look at where he had ended up, and get a glimpse at his life, 15 years later.
This person had been an extremely influential person to me in those formative years, I was always charmed by his intellect, creativity and well – I don’t think he’ll mind me saying – oddity. He was brilliant in very unconventional ways, a gifted actor and writer. I was flattered and honored to get attention from him as a young student.
Mulling over this reconnection, I recalled a memory of a gift that he had given me over Christmas of 1993. I was 15. It was a hardbound copy of The Little Prince, which has since become my favorite book. In fact, I just had a tattoo artist mock-up a sleeve design from the original illustrations. This person had written a very kind, very simple invocation on the front cover.
Over the last 15 years, I have read, re-read and read again this inscription and this story In some of my darkest moments, when it was all that kept me going; it showed me the journey I was – and continue to be – on. In joyous moments, it always served as a reminder of who I had fought – and was fighting – to become. The Little Prince has INDEED become one of my dear friends. The gift of this book, his story, and the thoughtful and caring inscription has meant more to me than I can ever really share.
So how does one show gratitude that matches the gift?
I wrote an email to him this morning, and explained how much the book meant to me. However, I don’t think there are words that can appropriately explain the energy of what this story and ultimately – the gift – mean to me.
So instead, I choose to pass on this gift to others. I have given this book as a gift to my godson, family friends, other loved ones. And I write my own inscription on the inside cover for each of them. It mirrors the sentiments given to me – but with my own words.
The energy of gratitude is the same as grief; I think that’s because we can never truly share that which we feel inside ourselves. Nobody can ever truly know our own unique energy. We can share it the best we can. But there’s something to be grieved there; a beautiful isolation that can be harnessed in a very positive way.
Today, I am going off to do a hospital healing on a woman who recently lost her daughter in a very tragic accident. She’s having her hip replaced and is very scared about the surgery, but I sense that her fear is really about finding her gratitude – and her grief. With the passing of her (very young) daughter, her own pain has simply become too much for her body to handle – it must be corrected by literally replacing her bones. When pain and loss are so deeply held inside, the body cannot carry that burden for very long.
Fortunately our bodies – and our spirits – constantly thrive towards growth and life. We overcome amazing obstacles every day, seeking out truth and beauty in the harshest of environments. Usually I find that just a simple “hello” to someone’s spirit – their true and unique energy behind everything else – is all it takes to jump-start growth. But to do that is discover the things in this lifetime that you are truly grateful for – and to do THAT, one must confront, experience and release theirs (and others) grief. Without grief, there can be no gratitude – and there is so much to be thankful for.
